Israel Comment from Uri C

Ok so I was moderating my comments because I got some spam, and I skipped through and deleted some but at the last second I realised one of them was an actual comment. I can't restore it but I did manage to press Back in my browser and copy it, so I thought I'd better publish it and respond lest anyone thinks I delete criticism. I can't even work out which post it was on but it was on May 20th and presumably on one of these posts.

Why don't you come to sderot, live some time under constant bombing and then say you don't want to defend yourself.

The arabs attacked israel in the past and lost. because of this israel have it's current boundaries. even so, israel has withdrawned and gave up territories in order to achieve peace. and yet, the bombing continues, the kidnapped soldiers (what made everything blow up in the first place) whereabouts is still unknown, and the arabs can't make up their minds about what they want so they fight among themselves and bomb israel at the same time.

and you have the nerve to say israel is aggressive? i do believe we have done more then enough to make peace but we can't be expected to let them bomb us and sit still. we can't be expected to value the arabs lives over ours just because we have more military power.

we are not the aggresive ones, and most of the arabs are not aggresive either. it's those radicals that makes everything go boom every time we see peace in the horizon.

i'm sorry for the grammer mistakes i must have. english is not my native language.

I've never said Israel can't defend themselves. But we know Israel go a lot further than defence. Palestinians are forced to stand for hours at check points just to go from their house to shops, they are humiliated daily and have rocks thrown at them whilst Israeli Soldiers stand by and watch. You say Israel has withdrawn and given up its territories, but Gaza is nearly entirely under Israeli control. All of this is because Israel took land in 1967 in the six-day war, and refuse to give it back, the Palestinians have the right to defend their land with whatever means necessary.

Of course I understand that you can't allow them to bomb you, the suicide bombings are horrific, but I don't think walls and checkpoints can really stop them completely, the only way to stop them attacking is to give them control of their land again. Otherwise they will continue to resist their occupiers for eternity and people will keep dying forever.

Personally I think the land of Israel and Palestine together should be split roughly 50/50 and everyone can share it, but you say "The arabs attacked israel in the past and lost. because of this israel have it's current boundaries." So Israel deserve it because they're "better"? Because they won a war?

Oh and finally, "we can't be expected to value the arabs lives over ours just because we have more military power." Indeed, every life should be valued the same.
