Starbucks

There was a good article in the Guardian the other day about the general savagery of Starbucks' economics. Basically they pay $1.20 for a pound of coffee, and this is enough to make 52 cups of coffee which they sell for a total of $160. Obviously there is the cost of the building and transport and staff etc, but selling ur product for 133 times the price you paid for it? That's a good deal is it? A good deal for the women who spent 12 hours a day sorting through coffee beans, but still have no shoes, or water, or education for their children, or healthcare?

There's another good article detailing the economics of it here. Just think about this next time you pass a Starbucks.
