I Hate My Country

Revealed: Britain's secret propaganda war against al-Qaida | World news | The Guardian
A Whitehall counter-terrorism unit is targeting the BBC and other media organisations as part of a new global propaganda push designed to "taint the al-Qaida brand", according to a secret Home Office paper seen by the Guardian.
This is sick. People talk about patriotism and stuff, but I fucking hate my country, I feel absolutely ashamed to be British and of the same nationality as these bastards that invented a war and now have to recruit volunteers to lie about it on the internet because people are beginning to see through their bullshit. It is literally like they read 1984 and thought "what a good idea!". Invent a war that is perpetual and never-ending (they go on about the war on terror lasting generations) that distracts from the real issues in the world, and allows the government to pour millions of pounds into corrupt arms companies and line the pockets of the fatcats. Pretending that we are in a constant state of "war" means they can push through whatever draconian measures they please in order to end our freedoms and privacy.

I can't help but laugh now when people refer to our "democracy". The Chinese olympic games have highlighted another country where gross human rights abuses occur on a daily basis, but I find it hard to believe that they are any worse than us. China came under criticism for recruiting "volunteers" and sending them to the Olympics in order to create the illusion that it was sold out, and our government is doing the exact same thing in order to create the illusion that Al-Qaeda are more dangerous than they really are. July 7th was a tragedy, but the total death toll was 52 and when you compare this to the amount of civilians murdered by US/UK forces every day in Afghanistan and Iraq, it is insignificant.
